One of the nation's largest integrated, nonprofit healthcare organisations, Banner Health was founded in 1999 out of a merger between Samaritan Health System and Lutheran Health System.

It runs nearly 300 clinics and employs 50,000 people in seven western states. In the Arizona Region, Banner Health is the state’s largest private employer.

CEO Amy Perry has just taken on the role at Banner Health.

Dr. Tomislav Mihaljevic serves as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Cleveland Clinic. He has guided the nonprofit multispecialty academic medical centre through a period of significant growth and innovation.

Tomislav's vision for Cleveland Clinic is to make it the premier destination for patient care worldwide and the most desirable workplace in healthcare. The hospital has expanded its global footprint, now encompassing 23 hospitals and 276 outpatient locations, which has led to 15.1 million patient encounters each year.

3. Nancy Howell Agee

President and CEO of Carilion Clinic

Nancy Howell Agee is Chief Executive Officer of The Carilion Clinic, a US$2bn not-for-profit integrated health system, which serves over 1m people in Virginia and West Virginia, with more than 1,000 employed physicians. Carilion Clinic includes seven hospitals ranging from the third largest in Virginia to mid-sized community and small rural or critical access hospitals. The Clinic also operates a range of business lines, such as home health, imaging services, pharmacies and freestanding surgical clinics. 

Nancy shared her plan to retire at the end of Fiscal Year 2024, leaving a legacy of ‘phenomenal care’ given at The Carilion Clinic.

2. Rob Allen

President and CEO of Intermountain Health

Rob Allen was raised on a farm in Star Valley, Wyoming, where his mother served as a nurse. Influenced by this, he has worked in executive leadership at Intermountain Health  the company for 25 years. He took on the role as President and CEO in November 2022, after serving as Chief Operating Officer for five years. 

He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has served on many foundation, chamber and service boards. He also has a strong interest in mentoring healthcare executives.

Rob earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Utah State University and a Bachelor of Science Degree in operations management from Brigham Young University.

Under the leadership of President and CEO Gianrico Farrugia, the Mayo Clinic’s 80,000-person global workforce cares for 1.3m people every year.

Gianrico has been a Mayo Clinic physician for close to four decades. He earned his medical degree from the University of Malta Medical School and went onto become the CEO of Mayo Clinic in Florida and he also led the Mayo Clinic Center for Individualized Medicine and he co-founded the Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation. Gianrico is also a member of the Mayo Clinic Board of Trustees & Governors.

In addition to this, he is the co-author of “Think Big, Start Small, Move Fast: A Blueprint for Transformation from the Mayo Clinic Center for Innovation,” which examines the need for change in the delivery of healthcare.
