Distinguished Professor Jodhbir Mehta

Professor Jodhbir Mehta is Executive Director and Co-Head of the Regenerative Therapy Group at the Singapore Eye Research Institute. He is also a Senior Consultant and former Head (2012-2022) of the Corneal and External Eye Disease Department and Senior Consultant in the Refractive Surgery Department of the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), where he is the Deputy CEO (Research) and also SNEC Professor in Clinical Innovation in Research and Ophthalmology. He has academic affiliations with DUKE-NUS Medical School.
He has received 84 National and International awards including those at AAO and ARVO. His corneal interests lie in corneal transplantation – penetrating keratoplasty, lamellar keratoplasty and endothelial keratoplasty, femtosecond laser technology, corneal imaging, corneal infections, corneal refractive surgery, keratoprosthesis surgery, ocular drug delivery systems and corneal genetics.
He has authored over 600 peer-reviewed publications and 20 book chapters, and given more than 400 presentations. His research work has developed 14 patents, four of which have been commercialised and licensed to companies.
