The new subsidiary uses Google’s Gemini AI to integrate pharmacies, insurers and care providers into a proactive consumer engagement platform

CVS Health has announced the formation of a new health technology services subsidiary, Health100, in partnership with Google Cloud.

The primary objective of this subsidiary is the launch of an AI-native consumer engagement platform designed to integrate disparate elements of the healthcare system into a single interface.

According to the announcement, the platform will be accessible to consumers regardless of their specific pharmacy, medical insurance provider, or clinical care network.

The partnership aims to address persistent fragmentation in the healthcare industry by using Google Cloud’s artificial intelligence and data infrastructure.

The Health100 platform is being developed to offer proactive support, streamline clinical workflows and increase cost transparency for patients. By consolidating data from various health partners, the platform seeks to reduce the administrative burden often referred to as healthcare homework.

Technical infrastructure and agentic AI

The Health100 platform will be powered by agentic AI, a technology intended to provide a real-time, omni-channel experience for users. Unlike legacy digital health tools, this AI-native approach is designed to function as a continuous health partner.

The system’s architecture relies on Google Cloud’s enterprise-ready technologies, including Gemini models, the Cloud Healthcare API and BigQuery.

This technical framework combines healthcare interoperability infrastructure with multimodal AI. This integration allows the platform to process diverse data sources to optimise both clinical and transactional workflows.

Furthermore, the roadmap for Health100 includes the eventual integration of biometric wearable technology. Such data-driven support is intended to assist consumers in managing their health in real-time through a proactive monitoring system.

“Consumer engagement in their own health and care is the holy grail that will drive trust and much better health outcomes,” says Tilak Mandadi, Executive Vice President, Ventures and Chief Experience and Technology Officer at CVS Health.

“We are putting the consumer at the centre to enable their healthcare partners to seamlessly connect with them as part of a fully integrated experience. Google Cloud and AI technologies are core to this platform, which is grounded in responsible AI principles.”

Integration of clinical touchpoints

Beyond its digital capabilities, Health100 is designed to serve as a conduit to pharmacist-led care management. CVS Health identifies the pharmacist as a trusted, though historically underutilised, clinical touchpoint. By connecting digital AI support with human clinical oversight, the platform aims to enhance the delivery of care and improve overall health outcomes.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, emphasised the distinction between this specialised infrastructure and broader AI tools. “With Health100, CVS Health is delivering the future of agentic, AI-powered health care that enhances human touch and eliminates complexity,” Thomas says.

“By applying Google Cloud’s secure infrastructure and Gemini’s multimodal capabilities to the complexities of medicine, CVS Health is creating a personalised and proactive end-to-end health care experience that general purpose AI interfaces and legacy tools cannot match.”

Data governance and privacy frameworks

The implementation of Health100 includes specific protocols regarding data governance and patient privacy. The platform’s infrastructure is designed to maintain HIPAA compliance, ensuring that patient data is protected through secure storage and access controls. Under these policies, CVS Health and its customers are intended to retain full control over their data.

Additionally, the collaboration uses Google Cloud’s responsible generative AI tools. These features allow for the tuning of AI models and the review of responses to mitigate the risk of unvalidated content appearing in the consumer interface. This approach is intended to provide a secure environment for the management of sensitive medical and financial information.

2026 rollout and ecosystem expansion

The initial launch of the Health100 platform is scheduled for 2026. CVS Health has indicated that the platform will adopt an open ecosystem approach, which would eventually allow other health innovators to build specialised applications within the Health100 framework. This strategy suggests an intent to create a standardised environment for digital health interactions across the industry.

Further details regarding the platform’s specific functionalities and a preliminary look at the consumer interface are expected to be disclosed in 2026. This presentation will take place at The Check Up, which is Google’s annual health-focused event. The partnership represents a long-term strategic effort by CVS Health to transition toward a more integrated, technology-driven model of healthcare delivery.
