How AI is Creating Personalised Fitness and Wellness Plans

The wellness industry has changed substantially in the past decade.
Technology now analyses body metrics rather than simply counting steps and gen AI is converting standard exercise programmes into personalised health routines.
Voice-activated gym equipment
Determining what the body requires at a specific time could present more difficulty than the physical activity itself. Technogym has partnered with Google Cloud across multiple years to integrate Gemini AI into its equipment.
The Technogym AI Coach allows users to communicate through voice, text and photographs rather than navigating complicated menus. A person could ask gym equipment how to improve their Wellness Age and receive a programme that changes according to sleep quality, previous recovery and future objectives.
Nerio Alessandri, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Technogym, says: "When it works, it's obsolete. At Technogym, this is our mantra.
"Starting from our unique Technogym AI Ecosystem, we continue to innovate through our collaboration with Google Cloud and the integration of Gemini AI models, which will allow us to deliver an even more personalised and engaging wellness experience for end-users and our partner operators."
Administrative support for trainers
gen AI could provide trainers with more time to work directly with clients. An AI Assistant for gym operators uses Google Cloud's data tools to manage scheduling and administrative tasks.
The system identifies dropout signals, which are patterns that could indicate a member might lose motivation. The AI alerts trainers so they can provide personal encouragement.
This approach could mean fitness professionals spend less time on paperwork and more time coaching. The technology handles routine tasks while human trainers focus on connection and expertise.
Wearable health monitors
Technogym is not the only company developing AI wellness tools. Wearable technology such as the Oura Ring or Samsung Galaxy Ring uses AI to convert raw data into health advice.
These devices use AI to analyse biomarkers including heart rate variability and skin temperature. The systems tell users when to exercise intensely and when to rest.
These tools are moving away from simple tracking and toward systems that could anticipate needs and offer solutions before problems develop. The technology shares similar objectives with Technogym's ecosystem.
Personalised health technology
The objective of these technologies is healthy longevity. Technogym is using 40 years of research and Google's infrastructure to enable personalisation within a secure environment.
Raffaele Gigantino, Country Manager for Google Cloud Italy, says: "As the wellness industry shifts toward hyper-personalised, agentic experiences, Google Cloud is at the forefront of delivering the advanced AI technologies needed to power this transformation."
The result could be gym equipment that understands individual health metrics as comprehensively as medical professionals. The technology aims to help people live longer and healthier lives through AI systems that operate without requiring constant user interaction.
