The company has also reduced the consumption of virgin plastics by 21%, and 69% of its packaging is now recyclable or refillable.

Additionally, 97% of Kenvue’s paper and wood fibre is certified or verified recycled.

The implementation of solar systems across 13 countries through multiple power purchase agreements contributes to 72% of Kenvue’s electricity now originating from renewable sources.

Furthermore, 78.1% of total waste is now diverted from disposal through recycling and reuse initiatives, showing significant progress in waste management.

Risk assessments and policies help Kenvue manage active pharmaceuticals, with take-back programmes supporting the responsible disposal of unused medicines.

"Through my comms role, I have been able to witness and learn about so many inspiring examples of how our teams are taking action towards a healthier future, and I’m grateful to be part of the journey.

"Our 2024 Healthy Lives Mission report shows how we’re making progress across people, planet and practice. It’s not just strategy—it’s who we are."

Foreseeing the future with sustainable goals

Kenvue has set ambitious targets to continue its sustainability journey. The company aims for a 42% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 2030.

By 2025, Kenvue intends for all of its packaging to be recyclable or refillable and also plans to cut virgin plastic usage by half by 2030.

It is set to ensure that by 2025, any paper-based material purchased originates from low-risk sources, with a goal for full certification or verified recycled status for paper and wood fibre packaging.

Moreover, Kenvue aims for 75% of suppliers to adopt science-based Scope 3 emissions targets by 2028.

By 2030, it also wants 75% of its new product development to show improved environmental performance utilising scientific principles.

Integrating sustainability into business strategy

Jennifer Duran, Group Head of Sustainability at Kenvue, says: “I’m excited about the deeper integration of our Healthy Lives Mission within our business strategy.

“I am looking forward to reinforcing the connections between sustainability, growth, innovation, and our commitment to help people realize the extraordinary power of everyday care.

“We have the right strategy in place and our goals are set but there is a lot of work ahead as we balance short-term mitigation with longer-term resilience-building efforts.

“What’s important is maintaining our focus on our material topics and being thoughtful and strategic about the choices we make in how we manage them.

“This work is about innovation and identifying opportunities for growth as well as about managing risk and building resiliency in our business and value chain."
