McKesson’s Impact Report documents how the healthcare giant has embedded high-impact initiatives throughout corporate strategy and business operations

With more than 43,000 employees worldwide and a responsibility for delivering more than a third of all US prescriptions, McKesson is one of the healthcare industry’s most trusted logistics and operations partners.

Its Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26) Impact Report outlines key milestones achieved across the company’s four impact pillars: Our People, Our Partners, Our Community and Our Planet.

The report highlights McKesson's focus on key healthcare priorities, including integrating AI into operations, advancing sustainability, expanding community access to care and strengthening supply chain resilience.

“At McKesson, impact is at the heart of our strategy and embedded in how we operate every day,” explains Nimesh Jhaveri, Executive Vice President and Chief Impact Officer at McKesson.

“This year’s report reflects our progress in strengthening healthcare for the providers, patients and communities we serve today, while building the capabilities needed for tomorrow.”

Reliable deliveries for patient-critical supplies

With a significant portion of McKesson’s business centring on logistics and the distribution of vital medical supplies and therapies, an automated, digitally connected distribution network is crucial.

In FY26, this network allowed McKesson to distribute one-third of America’s medicines with more than 99% inventory and order accuracy. It also prevented 12 million prescriptions from being abandoned.

Writing in the report, Brian Tyler, CEO and Chair of McKesson, says, “McKesson is an important part of the healthcare infrastructure, delivering essential medicines and therapies to every care setting – from pharmacies to providers and hospitals.

“By continuously investing in a digitally enabled supply chain, advanced cold-chain capabilities, automation and AI, we’re building a smarter network, one designed to support today’s needs and handle the growing complexity of tomorrow’s therapies.”

Expanding community healthcare access

McKesson is working to reshape cancer care through The US Oncology Network, which supports a community-based model designed to expand access to high-quality treatment closer to where patients live.

The network includes approximately 3,300 independent oncology providers, giving practices access to innovative therapies, opportunities to participate in clinical trials and resources to help manage the growing complexity of cancer treatment.

In addition to its clinical community support, McKesson and the McKesson Foundation contributed more than US$17m to organisations and initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable or disadvantaged communities across the US and Canada.

Employees also volunteered for nearly 40,000 hours with more than 700 charitable organisations, reflecting the company's broader community engagement efforts.

Preparing its workforce for an AI-led future

McKesson is committed to ensuring its employees are prepared for the AI-powered future that is likely to dictate the healthcare sector’s direction.

More than 95% of McKesson’s wired employees have completed an eight-month learning series focused on digital skills, efficiency and transformation.

The company has also introduced the “McKesson Leadership Prescription”, a shared behavioural and values framework built for today’s rapidly evolving digital and AI-driven world.

Sustainability at the heart of operations

Underpinning McKesson’s impact strategy is a deep commitment to sustainable operations.

The report has a strong sustainability focus, including long-term emissions-reduction targets aligned with the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi)

It also contains comprehensive indexes outlining corporate alignment with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) frameworks.

In FY23, McKesson set a target to reduce its operational Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 50.4% by FY32, relative to an FY20 baseline. The company has achieved 72% progress toward that goal as of FY26.

McKesson’s proprietary Green Building Standards (GBS) are also consistently applied across its facilities, with 52 buildings within the company’s real estate portfolio assessed since the scheme’s induction and 17 GBS certifications awarded.

In FY26, approximately 32% of electricity used by McKesson buildings was generated from renewable energy sources.
