Siemens Healthineers Rebrands as Diagnostics Spins Off

Siemens Healthineers has announced an evolution of its brand identity, which will see it drop Siemens from its name and forge a path forward solely as Healthineers.
The proposed rebrand marks another step in the company's progression into an independent healthcare technology business, following its initial separation from Siemens AG in 2017.
The transition is expected to begin in 2027, with a three-year migration period to introduce the new identity across the organisation.
Announced on 5 November 2026, the move will be subject to shareholder approval at Siemens Healthineers' Annual Shareholders' Meeting in February 2027. It will also coincide with Siemens AG's planned deconsolidation of the medical technology business through a spin-off.
Bernd Montag, President and CEO of Siemens Healthineers, describes the change as a natural progression for a company that has developed its own identity and capabilities over the past decade.
“Siemens is where we have come from and remains an important and treasured part of our heritage. Healthineers is who we are – engineers and pioneers in healthcare,” he says.
“After the deconsolidation from Siemens, we will write the next chapters of our journey in the Healthineers name and will continue pioneering breakthroughs in healthcare for everyone. Everywhere. Sustainably.”
An independent company
The company, which became an independent corporate entity in 2017, has established a leading international presence across medical imaging, cancer care, minimally invasive therapies, in vitro diagnostics and radiopharmaceuticals.
Operating in more than 180 countries, with direct representation in more than 70, Siemens Healthineers reported approximately €23.6bn (US$27.3bn) in revenue for the financial year ending 30 September 2026, employing around 75,000 people worldwide.
For Siemens AG, the separation also represents an opportunity to sharpen its own strategic focus.
Roland Busch, President and CEO of Siemens AG, describes the move as the “logical next step” in its corporate journey.
“Siemens Healthineers has grown from its Siemens roots into a global leader in its own right. It is only natural that this evolution is reflected clearly in how the company presents itself to the outside world,” he says.
“For Siemens, this sharpens our profile as the company that scales AI in the real world.”
Siemens Healthineers prepares diagnostics spin-off
Alongside the rebrand, Siemens Healthineers has initiated the carve-out of its in vitro diagnostics business, which will operate under the new name Olyrian Diagnostics.
The move is intended to establish the division as a standalone organisation, with the transition expected to be completed by mid-2028. The two brand migrations will take place in parallel as Siemens Healthineers moves towards its new identity.
- 2017: Siemens Healthineers became an independent corporate entity.
- 2027: The planned rebrand to Healthineers is expected to begin, with a three-year transition.
- 180+: Countries in which Siemens Healthineers operates worldwide.
- 16 billion+: Diagnostic tests manufactured annually by the business becoming Olyrian Diagnostics.
- 2028: Expected completion of the diagnostics business carve-out and transition to Olyrian Diagnostics.
Olyrian will focus on delivering diagnostic solutions across laboratory and point-of-care testing, supporting healthcare professionals throughout the patient journey – from initial testing and clinical interpretation to population health management.
The business has a substantial international footprint and an established position in the diagnostics market, manufacturing more than 16 billion tests annually, with an assay portfolio spanning nearly every major disease area.
Sharon Bracken, Head of Diagnostics at Siemens Healthineers, says the new identity will allow the business to build on this legacy while establishing a clearer purpose and market position.
“Technology creates possibilities, but people turn those possibilities into better care and outcomes for patients,” she says.
“Every day, at the heart of care in the laboratory, we support care teams as they provide critical answers patients need.
“Whether someone is running a test, interpreting a result, or deciding what happens next, informed and connected workflows help drive efficiency and empower a more comprehensive understanding of patient health. Olyrian Diagnostics is how we’ll define our next chapter.”
“Whether someone is running a test, interpreting a result, or deciding what happens next, informed and connected workflows help drive efficiency and empower a more comprehensive understanding of patient health. ”
The new organisation will combine its existing diagnostics portfolio with a renewed focus on connecting laboratory expertise, intelligent technology and clinical decision-making.
Full-year financial results published
The rebrand and diagnostics carve-out come at an important point in Siemens Healthineers' development, following a strong end to its 2026 financial year.
For the year ending 30 September 2026, the company reported comparable revenue growth of 4.0%, while fourth-quarter comparable revenue growth accelerated to 5.9%.
However, performance varied across its business divisions. Imaging delivered 10.0% comparable revenue growth in the fourth quarter, while Precision Therapy recorded growth of 4.8%. Diagnostics experienced a 4.2% comparable revenue decline.
These differing performance levels provide further context for the decision to sharpen the company's portfolio and establish Diagnostics as a standalone business. While imaging and precision therapy remain important growth engines, the carve-out will allow the diagnostics division to pursue its own strategic direction.
Looking ahead, Siemens Healthineers expects slower-than-expected revenue growth of between 4% and 5% in FY2027. The company is also targeting an additional €400m (US$450m) in savings.
For Bernd Montag, the changes represent an opportunity to align the company's corporate identity and structure with its longer-term ambitions.
“We closed out the last fiscal year with a strong fourth quarter. In this new fiscal year, we are shaping our next phase with a different shareholder structure, and enhancing corporate clarity,” he says.
“Our brand evolution and name will reflect who we are: Healthineers. We are sharpening our portfolio – further strengthening our core, while positioning our Diagnostics business for a successful future and initiating the carve-out process.”
