Mobile health has the potential to revolutionize health care by transforming the patient-provider relationship, states Dr. Yael Harris. What makes mobile health truly transformative, however, is its ability to actively engage patients in their health care. 

The following infographic from health care solutions firm Healthx highlights the change that smartphones and tablets have had on the health industry. Results show that there will be 44 million mHealth app downloads by the end of 2012, which will rise to 142 million by 2016.
