GE Healthcare & Mediport revolutionising cardiovascular care

Cardiovascular health
Cardiovuscular diseases make up 32% of deaths each year across the world. GE Healthcare & Mediport’s clinic can diagnose diseases in a single day

Mediport has opened a new multidisciplinary healthcare centre in Belgium, which will include GE HealthCare’s first One-Stop Clinic for Cardiology, which can diagnose cardiovascular diseases in just one day.

GE Healthcare and Mediport collaborate on a patient-centric care pathway

GE Healthcare’s software solutions are building ‘a world where healthcare has no limits’ with its Centricity Electronic Medical Record system, which allows healthcare providers to collect, store and manage patient data electronically. GE’s telehealth platform Mural Virtual Care Solution also provides remote patient monitoring, for a post-pandemic healthcare system.

Mediport is a rapid diagnostic centre, which supports healthcare professionals from their first screening to the end of treatment using radiology, cardiology, urology and more.

The rate of cardiovascular diseases has doubled since 1990, totaling 32% of deaths globally. This is expected to increase due to:

  • Sedentary lifestyles
  • An ageing and growing population
  • Improved survival rates from heart attacks and strokes.

Mediport and GE HealthCare have created a cardiology care pathway, to advance the patient experience with precise care, equipped with:

  • Fully comprehensive
  • Premium cardiac equipment
  • Same-day diagnosis
  • A care plan, including wellness checks and stable chest pain management.

“It's been a pleasure working with Mediport these past two years, co-designing an innovative model of care to address the growing burden of cardiovascular disease,” said Kristof Callebaut, Managing Director for Belgium and Luxembourg at GE HealthCare. “The One-Stop Clinic for Cardiology represents a shift toward streamlined cardiac care delivery with a hyper-focus on patient experience and personalisation. It is humbling to be a part of bringing a new model of care, and this is just the beginning.”

“The One-Stop Clinic experience is a pioneering concept that marks a paradigm shift, redefining the entire care experience for patients who may be suffering from cardiovascular diseases”, said Zvi Donat, Mediport CEO. “This concept combines cutting-edge technology and compassionate care to reduce long and complex care journeys and improve patient experience. We are thrilled to work alongside GE HealthCare to set up this innovative healthcare model for patients in Belgium.”

GE HealthCare helping OCINet deliver technology innovation

GE HealthCare’s John Insko recently spoke with HealthCare Digital to discuss Enterprise Imaging and the Ontario Clinical Imaging Network (OCINet).

“OCINet is a tremendously important customer to us,” adds Mike Hamilton, President of GE HealthCare in Canada. “We've had a longstanding relationship with them in the area of digital imaging repositories (DIRs), and we're excited to continue to be part of this DIR evolution in Ontario.”
