Haleon's supplier hub offers partners practical tools to support their sustainability journey and help decarbonise the company's full value chain

Haleon has launched a new supplier hub, a digital platform created to help its suppliers advance their sustainability efforts.

The initiative is part of Haleon’s strategy to meet its own environmental targets while encouraging its partners to adopt similar goals. By offering access to shared resources, Haleon is addressing Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, which could ensure decarbonisation across its full value chain.

Haleon is a British pharmaceutical company and a prominent consumer healthcare business globally.

With brands available across 170 countries, Haleon aims to improve everyday healthcare for consumers. Its portfolio includes brands such as Sensodyne, Panadol and Advil. Haleon was formed in 2022 following the merger of divisions from GSK, Novartis and Pfizer.

While Haleon itself is a relatively new entity, some of its brands have been on the market for over 170 years. The business operates with a focus on responsible practices, which include addressing environmental and social barriers that can impede access to quality healthcare.

Advancing supply chain decarbonisation

Haleon monitors its business performance using enterprise metrics and key performance indicators to track progress against its sustainability and operational targets.

The launch of its Supplier Hub is a strategic step to extend this accountability to its network of suppliers.

Haleon has stated the importance of its suppliers in helping to foster innovation and efficiency within its value chain.

The hub is designed to provide these partners with the necessary support to meet sustainability objectives.

Its environmental commitments include a goal to achieve net zero from source to sale by 2040. To support this objective, Haleon seeks to source from suppliers who align with its values on environmental and human rights protection.

"We’ve just launched our Supplier Hub, a dedicated space where our suppliers can explore key elements of Haleon’s Sustainability Program and access practical tools to support their journey," explains Chris Low, Head of Sustainability Procurement and Packaging at Haleon.

A platform for practical guidance

The supplier hub serves as a centralised platform where suppliers can find information to guide their operations responsibly.

This includes access to a detailed guidance document and information on specific sustainability initiatives. The hub also directs current or potential suppliers to a portal for onboarding.

By creating this streamlined digital space, Haleon is working to provide its suppliers with straightforward access to its sustainability guidance.

"At the heart of the hub is our new Sustainability Guidance for Suppliers document, designed to help partners take action across critical areas including human rights, sustainable sourcing, decarbonisation and more," Chris says.

He adds: "We’re proud to be working together to build a more sustainable, resilient supply chain — and this hub is a key step forward."

Supplier commitments and incentives

To ensure its supply chain partners contribute to its long-term vision, Haleon has outlined a set of expectations. Haleon is asking its suppliers to commit to several key actions, including:

  • assessing their carbon emissions baseline
  • setting a science-based target
  • moving to 100% renewable electricity
  • defining a net-zero roadmap
  • cascading decarbonisation across their own supply chain

By meeting these requirements, suppliers could demonstrate their potential to add value to the supply chain.

To help partners achieve these targets, Haleon is using carbon pricing as a commercial incentive.

This approach is part of Haleon's broader strategy to foster innovation and resilience throughout its supply chain, aiming for both sustainable and economic growth.
