Dr. Condapuram Pasupathy designated South Jersey Healthcare physician of the year
Dr. Condapuram E Pasupathy of Bridgeton has been named South Jersey Healthcare physician of the year. After 55 years of practice and study, Pasupathy felt the character and thirst for knowledge are the keys to his success.
Mr. Pasupathy said, “This award is one of the biggest achievements I have received in my life.” He also said, “I always worked hard and I always pushed myself to keep innovating and learning to try and improve upon things.”
Of the 300 doctors, only 1 is chosen to receive this award. Dr. Pasupathy's uncle, a physician in India, was responsible for inspiring Pasupathy as a young man.
Pasupathy’s mentors, Dr. Philip Sawyer, a well-known vascular surgeon, Dr. Clarence Dennis, an innovator in general surgery procedures and Dr. Samuel Kountz, a pioneer in kidney transplant surgery, taught Pasupathy the techniques which he now passes on to the young doctors.
Pasupathy said, “These people taught me the principles I still carry and pass on today.” He also said, “They inspired me and taught me to always continue innovating and learning-that is the only way to improve.”
Dr. Condapuram has spent last eight years working in thoracic surgery at South Jersey Healthcare- Regional Medical Center and helped people suffering with obesity. Over the years, the patients have reminded him of why he got into this line of work. He has spent about 55 years in the medical field and now plans to retire to spend time with his family. But he will also continue to work and mentor young doctors and pass on the knowledge that was once given to him.
Dr. Pasupathy also said, “I will continue some more time with my work at Regional Medical Center.” He also said, “But it needs me in a different way now. I will help doctors with surgery and pass on knowledge, continuing the cycle of the medical practice. But I am definitely ready to spend time with my family.”
