For the past 19 consecutive years, The Johns Hopkins Hospital has earned the top spot in U.S. News & World Report's anmnual rankings of more than 4,800 American hospitals, placing first in three medical specialities and in the top 16 in 13 others for 2009. Throughout much of this historic period, which essentially declares Johns Hopkins as the preeminent healthcare institution in the world, Ronald Peterson has been at the helm.
