Healthcare Digital has made a list of the 10 largest hospitals in the US, ranked by the capacity of staffed beds.
10. Montefiore Einstein Medical Center

Montefiore Einstein Medical Center is the primary teaching hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.
During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, the hospital’s Moses division became one of the first designated COVID centres, and the first to achieve in-house COVID testing in New York City.
Montefiore Health System consists of 14 hospitals, an extended care facility, the Montefiore School of Nursing, as well as the college.
The Montefiore Hospital includes the Greene Medical Arts Pavilion, which is an outpatient care and diagnostic testing facility.
9. Yale New Haven Hospital

With services in more than 100 specialty areas, Yale New Haven Hospital is Connecticut’s leading healthcare provider.
It is the primary teaching hospital for Yale School of Medicine, providing multidisciplinary, family-focused care with more than 12,000 employees.
Yale New Haven includes a specialist cancer hospital, a children’s hospital and a psychiatric hospital.
The campus features a neuroscience centre that is currently under construction, which is set to open in 2027.
This complex will specialise in treating movement and neuro-degenerative disorders as well as strokes.
8. Norton Hospital

Norton Healthcare is Louisville’s second largest employer, with nearly 24,000 employees across its 480 locations in Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

The company focuses on having a strong community presence, appearing at schools, fairs, events and farmers markets.
It has also contributed US$5m to build the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center in Louisville, which hosts sporting events, concerts and educational programming.
7. Orlando Regional Medical Centre

5. Tisch Hospital

NYU Langone Health’s Tisch Hospital has been recognised by The Joint Commission for its excellence in perinatal, palliative, stroke and ventricular assist device care.
The hospital is home to 66 operating rooms, an advanced critical care unit and a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), with more than 5,500 babies born at the hospital each year.
The company is working on improving its meal offerings, providing patients with food and nutrition that supports their personal recovery.
Each patient’s menu is tailored to the orders of their physician, for example having precise levels of sodium or carbohydrates in their meals.
4. Jackson Memorial Hospital

The hospital is known for its neurology and neurosurgical care and has performed more back and neck surgeries than any other hospital in Texas.
Methodist Healthcare System, which owns and operates Methodist Hospital, provides high-quality care to patients from San Antonio, its 26 surrounding counties and around the world.
The company is San Antonio’s second largest private employer, with more than 10,000 total employees, including 2,700 physicians in all specialties.
2. AdventHealth Orlando
Location: Orlando, Florida

AdventHealth Orlando’s 62,000 square foot facility can treat 90,000 emergency cases each year, including thoracic and general surgery, orthopaedics, neurology and neurosurgery, cardiology, paediatrics and internal medicine.
It has built strategic partnerships with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) teams, allowing for emergency medical treatments to be administered to patients before they arrive at the emergency room.
The hospital is also home to the first Code STEMI rapid response programme in Central Florida, which can stop a heart attack in progress.

The hospital was founded in 1771, making it the second oldest hospital in New York City and the third oldest in the US.

NewYork-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center is home to Komansky Children’s Hospital, which provides pediatric specialty and subspecialty care to patients aged 0 to 21.
