Numan is committed to men’s health and focusing on the causes of testosterone deficiency
Digital healthcare company Numan has appointed TRT experts in a service expansion for men’s hormonal health, to support those with testosterone deficiency

Digital healthcare provider Numan has unveiled a significant expansion of its men's health services, to tackle a condition that affects millions of men across the world, testosterone deficiency.

According to Cleveland Clinic, several forms of TRT are available, including daily skin gels, intramuscular injections, daily skin patches, pellets implanted under the skin, buccal tablets applied to the gums and even nasal gels.

The choice of treatment depends on the patient's preference, lifestyle and medical history. Each form has its advantages and potential side effects and healthcare providers work with patients to determine the most suitable option for their individual needs.

To spearhead this initiative, Numan has brought on board two highly qualified experts in the field: Dr. Ben Davis and Dr. Angela Wright. Both are accomplished clinical sexologists with extensive experience in men's hormonal health and sexual dysfunction. They have been appointed as co-leads of the newly formed Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) and sexual medicine team.

In their roles, Dr. Davis and Dr. Wright will be responsible for overseeing the clinical development of the expanded service and shaping patient care strategies. Their expertise will be crucial in ensuring that Numan delivers comprehensive, high-quality care to men suffering from testosterone deficiency.

Numan’s testosterone service

Numan’s testosterone service has five main principles:

  1. Accessibility for all men
  2. Evidence-based, patient-first care
  3. Balanced, responsible diagnosis and treatment
  4. A safe, open environment
  5. Holistic health context

Numan expands men's health services

“Many men struggle to access help for sexual difficulties and avoid going to the doctor,” said Dr Ben Davis, co-lead of Numan’s TRT and sexual medicine team. “Even when they do seek help, their sexual symptoms are often ignored and important diagnoses missed. Testosterone deficiency is an often misdiagnosed condition and something men struggle to get help for. Estimates vary between 2 and 5% of men are suffering from testosterone deficiency, with levels as high as 30% in men with type 2 diabetes and obesity.”

Dr. Angela Wright, clinical sexologist

Numan is excited to have established a sexual medicine service, guided by the British Society of Sexual Medicine’s guidelines, offering top-quality care and removing barriers for men to receive evidence-based treatment, in their own homes.

“In the UK, menopause is generally managed by GPs - however, the same cannot be said about testosterone deficiency, where there are real barriers to recognition and care,” explained Dr Angela Wright, co-lead of Numan’s TRT and sexual medicine team. “Whilst lower testosterone levels can occur in up to one in four men during their lifetime, a lower proportion are likely to experience the symptoms of testosterone deficiency and actually need treatment. Equally many men have symptoms that might mimic testosterone deficiency when testosterone deficiency is not the problem. A lack of understanding of these nuances have led to men historically being both under- and over-treated.

“There is a real opportunity to change the way testosterone and testosterone deficiency are understood - making it easier for men to access high quality, responsible and evidence based care for their hormonal health. With the expanded offering at Numan, we’re not just focusing on diagnosis - we’re looking at the full spectrum of care, from lifestyle adjustments, weight loss support, suggesting psychotherapeutic approaches, as well as medical treatment.”

Sokratis Papafloratos, CEO and founder of Numan.

Numan has also partnered with US pharmaceutical company, Marius, which will allow Numan to offer an enhanced range of medications for testosterone deficiency, providing patients with more comprehensive treatment options. Under the guidance of their clinicians, patients can now access a wider variety of therapies tailored to their specific needs.

“Our partnership with Marius represents a significant milestone for Numan and our customers,” shared Sokratis Papafloratos, CEO and founder of Numan. “By working with Amit and his team, we can deliver innovative and effective treatments to our patients suffering with testosterone deficiency in the UK. Moreover, with Dr Ben Davis and Dr Angela Wright as part of the Numan team, we can be even bolder in our ambitions to redefine what men’s health means in the UK - offering patients greater choice and control over their health and overall wellbeing.”

Together, this reflects Numan’s goal to make men’s health ‘accessible, personalised and effective’.
