Egyptian startups to digitally transform pharmacies
Egyptian startups Paymob and Chefaa have partnered together to help patients have better access to medicine.
Chefaa is a wellness service, founded in 2017 and headquartered in Cairo. It’s a pharmacy platform which is GPS-enabled and helps patients with chronic healthcare conditions schedule their prescriptions.
Also stationed in Cairo, financial service Paymob was founded in 2015 and has 40 payment methods available for businesses to choose from.
Secure pharma payments
The collaboration between these two startups aims to transform pharmaceutical payments in Egypt by facilitating convenient and secure online card payments, as well as point-of-sale payments during product delivery.
Through Paymob's gateway, Chefaa customers can access various "Buy Now, Pay Later" (BNPL) payment options, reducing the financial burden of upfront payments for healthcare products.
This partnership not only promotes the adoption of digital payments in the healthcare industry and boosts online orders, but also enables smaller pharmacies to expand their customer reach and enhance sales.
Additionally, by simplifying prescription management for chronically-ill patients who regularly need medication refills, this will uplift the customer experience.
Egypt’s digital healthcare and plans for pharma
Both startups are excited for what the future holds for Egypt’s digital healthcare.
“We are thrilled to partner with Chefaa as we see a massive opportunity to fuel the growth of e-pharmacies and online medicine orders in Egypt via access to Paymob’s cutting-edge payment solutions,” said Gillan Shaaban, CCO of Paymob. “The sector is ripe for innovation and our partnership with Chefaa will enhance customer experiences and drive digital adoption in the marketplace. It’s a win-win for the ecosystem!”
“By empowering patients with a digital payment solution that is designed with their unique needs in mind, we aim to ease patients’ worries, foster trust, and build lasting relationships based on compassion and support while leading innovation in our sector,” said Doctor Rasha Rady, Chefaa’s COO and co-founder.
