RiverSpring Living, Ascom and Unimed Transform Senior Living

RiverSpring Living chose Ascom and Unimed for clinical workflow solutions as part of its technology strategy for resident care

When RiverSpring Living embarked on a digital transformation journey, it implemented a comprehensive solution including clinical workflow software, mobile devices and nurse call systems for its nursing homes and new assisted living facility.

RiverSpring Living built on its existing relationships with Ascom and Unimed, both specialists in healthcare technology and communications, to make this transformation happen.

“Very few marketplace vendors had what we needed in one envelope,” says David Finkelstein, CIO at RiverSpring Living. “We felt Ascom and Unimed, being excellent partners, would provide the right solution.

“We ensured the technology worked with a seamless installation before expanding to our entire campus of 700 residents.”

RiverSpring Living benefits from a complete solution and ROI

RiverSpring Living has a complete clinical workflow solution, beginning with the implementation of the Ascom nurse call system.

Staff now use an Ascom smartphone to receive an alert—routed through the Ascom Unite software—as soon as a resident presses the nurse call button.

RiverSpring Living processed more than 90,000 alerts with this new solution during the first year of operation, with an astonishing 95% answered in less than two minutes. This ROI is making a difference in resident and nurse satisfaction.

Unimed is uniquely positioned to help RiverSpring Living drive improved outcomes, says Rich Levy, Unimed Co-Founder and President. He believes the combination of experience and high-quality products makes all the difference.

“Unimed fully understands the way assisted living facilities and care facilities work because that’s our core business,” Levy explains.

“With the Ascom platform being so flexible, we can accommodate different scenarios using the same platform. That allows us to answer 99% of the requests for RiverSpring Living and other facilities.”

Laura Oakes, Regional Sales Director at Ascom, adds: “We did a lot of work to meet and exceed RiverSpring Living’s vision for what care would look like in their facility. Ascom brings  flexibility for customers to build a solution unique to their needs.”
