Flo Health’s new app Flo for Partners: periods & pregnancies

Fertility health
From periods to conception to parenthood, Flo Health’s new Flo for Partners shares survey insights on sexual wellness, conception & couples communication

Flo Health has conducted a survey of men aged 18-50, which suggests greater need for education and open communication regarding fertility. 60% of women said their partner's limited understanding of their reproductive health was a pivotal factor in their relationship.

The Flo Health app can support partners with its support for the ovulation window and the pregnancy journey.

Today, Flow Health launches Flo for Partners, where couples can use the app together. It offers partners advice on how to support each other, explains the science behind period cycles and pregnancy to partners, in a way that they can understand, as well as quizzes and polls.

Flo Health's impactful journey from period tracking to pregnancy

The Flo Health app has been downloaded by 300m people and it has 57m monthly users, making it the top app in the Health & Fitness category. Flo Health is also the most recommended app by OB-GYNs, for its period and cycle tracking support.

With over 120 medical experts, Flo assists women and people who menstruate and offers them cycle and ovulation tracking and a closed community to share their questions. In addition, Flo Health’s Anonymous Mode feature was a finalist for Fast Company’s 2023 World Changing Ideas Awards, in the Rapid Response category.

45% of men said that they felt confident in supporting their partner through perimenopause or menopause.

In Flo’s survey, 1.8k UK men aged 18-50 were questioned, with results showing:

  • 58% of men didn’t know that an average menstrual cycle is 28 days
  • 52% of men were unaware of how the menstrual cycle impacts women’s mental health
  • 47% didn’t know when their partner's period starts
  • 45% said that they felt confident in supporting their partner through perimenopause or menopause.

While the global population is growing, men’s infertility is increasing. Healthcare professionals have cautioned that unhealthy habits are part of the reason behind this - with alcohol, smoking and drug habits playing a role.

Research into infertility continues, but armed with the right knowledge - or resources to find the answer - couples can support each other on their individual health journeys, as well as pregnancy.

Flo for Partners enhances shared pregnancy journeys and sexual wellness

Claudia Pastides, Director of Medical Accuracy at Flo Health, is proud that the company is assisting users as they build secure relationships and a foundation for their family.

"With Flo for Partners, we’re giving our users and their partners the tools to improve their sex life, support them during conception, or share their pregnancy journey together.

“Learning about fertility, plus having access to information around sex and the female menstrual cycle can give the male partner a good baseline understanding of reproductive health and sexual wellness, before they’ve even walked through a healthcare professional’s door to discuss getting pregnant.

“Engaging the male partner so that they too are aware of pregnancy symptoms, plus body changes and the exciting development of the baby may increase understanding and support of their pregnant partner, as well as empower them with knowledge, which can come in very useful at antenatal appointments and in preparing for birth.

“Flo is already the #1 OB-GYN-recommended app for period and cycle tracking (based on a survey among 500 US OB-GYNs), and with Flo for Partners, we hope doctors will have even more reason to recommend Flo to their patients."
